Toronto ALPHA is the Executive Producer for “Within Every Woman,” a documentary film directed by Canadian-born Chinese filmmaker Tiffany Hsiung of Golden Nugget Films.
This film will document the systematic rape of over 200,000 young girls between the ages of nine- to twenty-years-old during World War II in Asia. These atrocities and war crimes occurred between 1931 and 1945 and, to this day, the Japanese government has not offered an official apology and many survivors still hide their dark past due to shame and this denial.
With only a few survivors left and the majority nearing their 90s, the time is now to ensure that their stories are preserved and shared. To finally break over 50 years of suppression and silence, “Within Every Woman” will address the isolation thousands of women and their families have suffered. Following the inter-woven narratives of these survivors from Korea, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan and Holland, “Within Every Woman” will illuminate the sheer scale of one of the most widespread, institutionalized systems of mass rape known to the history of mankind.
“Within Every Woman” will explore the invaluable perspectives of these survivors offer about the challenges facing women today. This film will resonate with millions of girls and women worldwide and will help to plant a crucial seed of hope and promote women’s rights around the world.
